Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
Altar servers assist the priest and deacons at mass.
What to expect as a server
You will serve once a month at an assigned mass time. Servers are required to attend two three-hour sessions, usually held once a year in August and September.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
Ministers assist the priest in distributing the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to fellow parishioners during Communion at Mass.
What qualifications are needed to be an Extraordinary Minister?
You must be at least 16 years old, confirmed, a practicing Catholic, a registered member of St. Theresa’s Parish. Prefer candidates not be active in other liturgical ministries.
What is required?
Attendance at a training course is required. Afterward, your name is forwarded to the Bishop for his approval. The Pastor is then authorized to commission these ministers for a two year period of service in St. Theresa’s Parish. There also a dress code.
How often am I required to serve?
You are usually assigned to serve at the Mass of your choice; you are not changed without your approval. Depending on your assigned Mass, you could serve every third or fourth weekend. Schedules are generally made for a two-month period and done online. The training sessions will be conducted at varies times during the year.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God in such a way that the power inherent in God’s Word is revealed to the community of faith.
What to expect as a Lector?
Formation and training sessions once or twice a year
Scripture Study and ongoing preparation for proclaiming scripture
Develop important skills for this ministry: careful enunciation, sufficient eye contact, appropriate rate of speech, effective use of a microphone, proper posture and movement, capacity to convey human emotions vocally, the ability to gain and keep the attention of the listeners, and the capability to convey enthusiasm and motivate the assembly. Study and preparation before your assigned week
Serve once every four or five weeks and commit to reading at the mass time that the parish has greatest need (take care to communicate schedule conflicts)
Be prepared and willing to do extra study, practice and rehearsal prior to your assigned day. There is a dress code. All candidates must meet minimum qualifications
What to expect as in the hospitality ministry
Attend a training and formation session once or twice a year.
Serve one mass a month. Arrive 20 minutes before the mass Assist seating worshippers in church. Assist with collections. Guide community during the communion procession. Hand out weekly bulletins at the conclusion of the liturgy and thank assembly for coming to worship.
Be prepared to assist in crises or emergency situations if they arise.
Make a Joyful Noise
Join the youth choir share your talents and lead others in prayer and praise. Have fun, meet great people and develop your skills. Bring a friend! The Youth Choir is accepting singers, Instrumentalists in 6th-12th grades and young adults to join in the fun and song! We meet on Sunday for rehearsal at instrumentalists at 3:30pm and 3:45 for singers. Choir members are asked to commit to regular attendance at rehearsal and Mass
High School youth can receive training to be a cantor. Teens may be invited to participate in other choir opportunities.
