Maureen Carter and her husband, Deacon Keith Carter, have a family connection to Robb Elementary in Uvalde, and have collected 85 prayer blankets that will be given early next week to the teachers and staff of Robb Elementary as well as those who were wounded in the tragedy. The prayer blankets come from St. Theresa parish as well as four other Austin parishes. “My sister-in-law had been a teacher in Uvalde, and when I asked her what we could do to help, she suggested supporting the teachers and staff at Robb who will be helping the students and families through this tragedy in the months ahead,” said Maureen Carter. She also gathered prayer blankets for the 17 wounded survivors, which will be distributed through the local hospital. Donations for the 29 prayer blankets from St. Theresa were made possible through the personal contributions of volunteers with our Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Theresa Conference. The prayer blankets are lovingly sewn and prayed over by members of the St. Theresa Sewing Ministry and then blessed by a priest or deacon. The blankets are kept in the parish office and are available to anyone to give as gifts to those who suffer from a serious illness or trauma or are recovering from an operation. Thank you all for your compassion toward those in need!
